Superhero Party

Our big boy turned 4 last week and he had been talking about a superhero party for the longest time so we had a lot of fun planning the details of his party.

superhero_invite_500One of the many things I love about Chad is that he is an incredibly talented illustrator and since he loves comics (he’s pretty much just a big kid himself) designing this invitation was right up his alley. Our oldest has superhero names for all of us. His own is Crash Nash, so he ended up with an invitation looking like an old, worn comic book-featuring Crash Nash and all the party details.

Vintage comic books and toy superheroes we had around the house made for great decor. We made no sew banners with the comic book pages and a city skyline out of floral foam and paint.

We also decoupaged letter “C’s” with the comic book pages and made super simple capes and masks for all the kids.
It was so much fun seeing all the little ones arrive in their superhero shirts and run around in their capes

And of course, there was fun with the food-adding labels to the veggies with phrases such as “increases Hulk strength” and “builds super muscles.”
I figure there are only so many years I have before fun details like these are no longer “cool” at a party. For now, he loves it and so do we!

Stay tuned for an easy no sew banner tutorial coming soon.
